Hi, I’m Alanah, Artist, Mum of three and founder of Sustainable Canvas.
I started Sustainable Canvas while painting large ocean artworks and wondering if there was a better way to create the tools artists use every day. Too many traditional art supplies create unnecessary plastic waste, so I began exploring how recycled materials could be transformed into beautiful tools for artists.
But creating isn’t always about finishing a painting.
Sometimes it’s simply about having a quiet moment at the end of a big day, a small space where your hands can move, your mind can slow down, and ideas have somewhere to land.

if you get nothing else from this shop, these pots are fantastic. it's the perfect volume of liquid, at least for me, and wide enough to lay brushes over it OR very briefly rest them inside since its at a slight angle. washes out super easy and they have a decent weight them. as a serial 'knocks my water container all over my projects' type person, i appreciate the stability.
extremely easy to clean palette with super smooth surface that is perfect for mixing. i've been a disposable palette person for awhile now but i'm finally free!

Palette is the perfect size and peeling off built up paint in one big piece is so satisfying! Sassy the studio cat also approves!
This is the best palette I've used. I paint in acrylics and there is no flaking off from paint layers underneath and I can layer the colours until I have a good coverage to easily peel it all off again. Not only is that an easy clean but it feels so satisfying! The weight of it is great as well and I love it. Highly recommend it and you're doing something for the planet and for small business, which is all an added bonus.
